We recently put down a deposit on a custom van conversion slot. (Our build will take place in early 2023.) It’s begged the question from many people we care about: Why van life?

The whole thing can sound especially crazy considering that we just moved to Florida a year and a half ago so I could start a new job, bought a house last spring, and are already planning on settling into a van before we’ve been here for three years.

For some, a “modern nomadic” existence seems obviously awesome. For others, the idea of living in a van down by some river warrants a shake of the head.

Here’s our personal “why” behind the decision!
