I’ve been trying to keep most blogs on Paws and Reflect current as our lifestyle, training, and overall dog ownership philosophies change. I recently sat down to make some updates to our “How We Train Through Our Heeler’s Dog Reactivity” piece—and realized it might be helpful to just break the reflections into a completely separate article.

That 2021 post still stands as an accurate overview of what things looked like a little under two years ago. It’s valuable for me to look back on (and hopefully for fellow owners to read for encouragement and context, too)!

But life does look different for us now.

So long story short: Here’s a standalone piece that originated as some tweaks to our old reactivity training blog. My goal is to sum up how we approach most situations today as well as highlight a few overall philosophy adjustments. For the best context, I’d start with the original article first and then move to this one.
