The hardest things about potty training foster puppies

When I adopted Scout back in 2019, the shelter estimated she was around two years old. We had to hone her potty training a little bit—she did have a couple accidents in our early days—but her bladder and bowels were plenty developed to hold it for several hours. Once we created some clarity and I better learned what signals meant she had to go? Her bathroom habits were a complete nonissue. Phew!

All our foster experiences have been humbling. We learn more each time we bring a new dog into our home. And these two nuggets in particular have made me think more critically about potty training than ever before.
