I think "feral" captures it perfectly, with a little humor and/or hyperbole. There are so many beautiful things on this list that I could envy deeply. Hilariously, though, the one I'm most jealous of is that Scout hasn't had a bath in over two years. What must it be like (heaven, I'm sure) to have a dog with a self-maintaining coat? Mine hasn't had a bath in two weeks, and she LOOKS feral.
Ha!! I really do feel lucky with the "wash and wear" thing. We used to bathe her more regularly, and then sort of realized over time it wasn't doing all that much—especially in the van context where she just lies on the ground all the time and we can't prevent everything from getting inside regardless. But we would be truly screwed if she had a high-maintenance coat or one that required clipping!
